We will renew an expired self-signed Certificate for Exchange 2007.

Open Exchange Management Shell as Administrator.

Obtain the status of all existing certificates by typing

Get-ExchangeCertificate | FL

Note down the ThumpPrint of the expired certificate. It should say Invalid.

Now we will renew the new Certificate for that expired one, based on the thumbprint.

To confirm, press A.

Type Get-ExchangeCertificate | FL to view the new certificate.

Note that IIS service is not assigned to the certificate any more.

Copy down the thumbprint of the newly generated certificate.

In this case, it is: A9CAB388A4E4A4B864B6B21FA6E37E88FBFCA420

We will now assign IIS service to the certificate.

Now we can remove the old Certificate

Press A to confirm.
