In this post I will show you how to install and configure EdgeSight 5.4 for monitoring your XenApp farm. Prepare a server with IP address 192.168.1.11.
On the Windows Server 2008 R2, ensure that the TimeZone is correct.
Change the time to match that of the Domain Controller.
Configure the TCP/IP
Enable Remote Desktop
Change the Server name and join it to the XALAB.LOCAL domain.
Provide Domain Administrator credentials to allow the server to join to the domain
Click OK
Click OK
Close
Restart the Server
Disable Firewall temporarily.
We are going to install EdgeSight on a separate box. This server is on the same subnet with the XenApp farm network. Later, we will install the Agent on XA server to communicate with EdgeSight.
EdgeSight is being replaced by Director.
Before installing EdgeSight, we need to install MSMQ (Microsoft Message Queuing) feature.
Open Server Manager
Click Add Features, choose Message Queuing. Click Next.
Click Install
Click Close
Now open the Server Manager again
Add Features, choose .NET Framework 3.5.1
Click Add Required Role Services
Click Next
Click Next
Keep default IIS selections
Click Install
Click Close
Open IIS Role, Install the following
Click Add Role Services
Choose the following services

Click Install
Click Close
Prepare the SQL Server.
Create a local account called rsno on the Database server. Add it to the Administrators group.
Log into the SQL Server, launch the SSMS.
Add SQL2K14\rsno to Login list.
Click Server Roles, choose

Insert the EdgeSight DVD, choose Autorun.
Click EdgeSight Server to install.
Choose your language
Click Next on the Welcome screen
Choose the first option
There is a warning about IIS Certificate for SSL. Ignore that, we will resolve it later. Click Next.
Accept the License and click Next
Choose Custom
Choose the DB Server. Note that the SQL Database servers are detected automatically. I really like this! Also choose Windows Authentication for SQL Server.
Click Test Connect
Click Next
Choose Default DB name and click Next.
Enter domain credentials. The following screen is wrong. It should be: ES\Administrator / Pass1234.
Click Validate
Enter the default Database parameter.
Click Next
Click Install
Wait for the installation to take place
Click Finish.
Log in as ES\Administrator. Click Next.
Enter name, time zone, and language
Fill in the info
Fill in SMTP information
Click Next
Click Finish
Login
